Project Funding and Governance
TRAILS4SOIL is funded by the EU's Horizon Europe programme under the EU Mission 'A Soil Deal for Europe' (Topic: HORIZON-MISS - Co-creating solutions for soil health in Living Labs). The project is also co-funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), reflecting Switzerland's commitment to sustainable agriculture and soil health despite not being an EU member state.
The project is coordinated by Universidad de Cordoba in Spain and involves 22 partner organisations across Europe, including universities, research centres, and farmer associations. This multi-stakeholder approach ensures that the research is grounded in practical farming experience while maintaining scientific rigor and policy relevance.

Expected Duration of Participation:Three cropping seasons (2026/2027, 2027/2028, 2028/2029)
Total Funding Available:€735,000 distributed across approximately 49 selected farms
Funding per Farm:€5,000 per cropping season for standard sites (up to €15,000 total); €10,000 per season for lighthouse sites (up to €30,000 total)

Eligible Countries:Spain, Portugal, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine
