The EIC Accelerator Open 2026 is a competitive funding program under the Horizon Europe initiative aimed at supporting high-risk, high-impact innovations, particularly targeting startups and SMEs that are developing groundbreaking technologies. Eligible applicants include startups, SMEs, small mid-caps (up to 499 employees), individuals, and legal entities planning to establish an SME or mid-cap. Applicants from third countries can also qualify under specific conditions, although UK entities are restricted to grant-only applications. The funding consists of grants up to €2.5 million and equity investments ranging from €0.5 million to €10 million, making it a blended financing opportunity.

The EIC Transition Open grant is part of the Horizon Europe program, designed to advance technology from the experimental validation stage to readiness for application. It supports innovations across all sectors, aiming to bridge the gap between research and market deployment. The funding provides substantial financial aid along with business support services. Eligible applicants include small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, spin-offs, research organizations, and universities. Applications can be submitted by single entities or small consortia comprising two to five independent legal entities. The geographic eligibility extends to EU Member States and countries associated with Horizon Europe.

The EIC STEP Scale Up call, part of the Horizon Europe program, provides equity-only investments aimed at ambitious scale-up companies including startups, SMEs, and small mid-caps in critical technology sectors. This initiative targets innovative companies that are unable to fully finance their scaling efforts through other investors. The total indicative budget for 2026 is €300 million. Eligible applicants include single companies classified as SMEs or small mid-caps with up to 499 employees, established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries. An investor can propose on behalf of an eligible company if a prior agreement exists.
