Eligible applicant profile and required documents

Applicant type:natural persons (individuals). Applicants must be enrolled in or have acceptance to the AI-SECRETT online master and to at least one extracurricular activity listed as eligible by AI-SECRETT; both proofs must be dated 1 October 2026 or later and not finalised before the chosen cut-off date. Applicants cannot be subject to restrictive measures, must not seek double funding for the same operation and must not be in conflict of interest with UVEG or AI-SECRETT partners.

  1. 1Minimum documents required for admissibility (must be in English; unofficial translations allowed at applicant risk): signed application form; CV in Europass format; motivation letter explicitly stating employment status and financial need; documentation supporting disadvantaged background or priority categories where applicable; signed declarations (no conflict of interest, no double funding) using templates on GoodGrants; proof of enrolment/acceptance in AI-SECRETT master (dated not earlier than call opening); proof of enrolment/acceptance in at least one eligible extracurricular activity (dated not earlier than call opening); indicative cost breakdown (travel, accommodation, registration/participation fees, other costs).

  3. 3Eligibility check: nationality, absence of restrictive measures, no double funding, no conflict of interest with UVEG or partners.

Evaluation, scoring and selection

Process:For each cut-off date, all admissible and eligible applications received by that deadline will be scored and ranked until available funds are exhausted. A single applicant can apply multiple times across cut-off dates but may receive financial benefits from the Call only once. The Selection Committee may cap cost items deemed excessive and will adjust awarded amounts according to country correction coefficients used in Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions. Eligible expenses must be incurred after application submission.

Scoring criterionDescription and maximum points
Excellence and relevanceAcademic/professional background and fit with AI-SECRETT vertical industries (Agri-Food, Cultural and Creative Industries, Energy and Environment, Housing, Manufacturing, Mobility and Transport, Non-Touristic Services) — 30 points
Motivation and expected impactLearning objectives, career impact, clarity of plan — 25 points
Financial needEconomic situation and justification of requested support — 25 points
European added valueCross-border dimension and contribution to diversity — 20 points

No minimum thresholds or weighting beyond the listed maxima are applied. In the event of tied scores, priority order is: applicants enrolled in more than one extracurricular activity; applicants from countries not full members of the AI-SECRETT consortium; applicants from regions with average income below 75% of the EU average; female applicants if merit equivalent.

Maximum award per beneficiary:Maximum support: €5,000 per person. The scheme reimburses up to 50% of total eligible costs within that cap, so minimum number of supported beneficiaries with available resources will be at least 240 (equally distributed across two yearly editions of the Call).

Eligible costs, payment and Financial Support Agreement

Eligible cost categories:actual and justified travel costs; actual and justified accommodation costs; actual and documented registration/participation fees; other actual, justified and documented costs directly linked to participation in the activity. Eligible expenses must be realised after date of application submission. The Selection Committee may cap specific items if excessive compared with market prices for the location and period.

  1. 1Payment mechanism: selected beneficiaries must sign a Financial Support Agreement (FSA) with UVEG specifying supported activity, eligible costs, maximum amount, payment schedule and reporting obligations. Failure to sign within the indicated timeframe may lead to loss of the grant.
  2. 2Timing: Payments are normally made by UVEG after participation in the activity and approval of the beneficiary report and cost statement. Approved payment equals 50% of approved proofs of payment for eligible costs up to awarded grant amount. UVEG can provide partial pre-financing in special justified cases at its discretion.
  3. 3Documentation to obtain payment under the FSA: signed FSA; evidence of successful completion of the extracurricular activity (certificate, diploma or signed declaration from organising committee); short participation report using UVEG template; statement of costs and copies of proofs of payment for all eligible costs.
  4. 4Deadlines for documentation: documentation must be submitted within 12 months of signing the Agreement or of the end of the activity, whichever is later. UVEG may refuse documentation received after that deadline.

Financial enforcement and legal framework:The FSA is governed by Spanish law; courts of the city of València have exclusive jurisdiction. UVEG can request reimbursement of undue payments and apply default interest in accordance with Spanish subsidy law. Beneficiaries are liable for accuracy of submitted documents and face termination/recovery in case of false statements.

Application and submission

Application method:open call with multiple cut-off deadlines. Submission is electronic only via the GoodGrants platform: aisecrett.grantplatform.com. Applicants must complete the platform form and attach all required documentation in English. Templates for signed declarations are provided on the GoodGrants platform. The full text of the Call, the draft Financial Support Agreement and a courtesy application form are available from the AI-SECRETT call page: AI-SECRETT Call page (note: some pages may be in preparation or temporarily unavailable). For technical or process enquiries contact fstp@aisecrett.eu.

Application scoring and selection stages

Number of stages:three logical processing stages applied to every application: 1) admissibility check (documents, format, platform submission and dates); 2) eligibility check (nationality, legal disqualifications, double funding, conflicts of interest); 3) merit scoring by the Selection Committee according to four criteria. After ranking by score, awards are proposed within available budget and endorsed by UVEG; awardees are notified in writing and provided with appeals information. If the awarded beneficiary does not sign the FSA in the indicated timeframe, the grant may be reallocated.

Success rate:not published. Practical expectation: with €600,000 initial budget, maximum award per beneficiary €5,000 and reimbursement of 50% of eligible costs, the scheme targets a minimum of 240 supported beneficiaries across two editions. The actual success rate per cut-off will depend on number and quality of applications and any additional budget the consortium decides to allocate (up to twice the initial amount).

Key restrictions and special rules

  1. 1An individual may submit multiple applications across cut-offs but may receive funding only once.
  2. 2Eligible expenses are those incurred after the date of submission of the respective application.
  3. 3Awarded amount is adjusted with country correction coefficients used by Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions to account for country-level price differences.
  4. 4Applicants must not receive double funding for the same operation; they must sign declarations confirming this.
  5. 5Applications and supporting documentation must be provided in English; unofficial translations are accepted at applicant risk.

Target sectors, project stage and expected beneficiary profile

Target sector:education and training in advanced digital technologies with emphasis on artificial intelligence applied to creative, cultural and industrial domains. The AI-SECRETT master and extracurricular activities address seven vertical industries: Agri-Food; Cultural and Creative Industries; Energy and Environment; Housing; Manufacturing; Mobility and Transport; Non-Touristic Services. Project stage: participants are at training/education stage (learning, development, validation) and the support targets participation in short-term learning events that complement the online master curriculum.

Mentioned countries and partners:Explicitly mentioned countries include Spain, Italy, Finland, Norway, France and the list of eligible non-EU countries specified above. Consortium partners named: Universitat de València (coordinator, Spain), Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), Università degli Studi “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara (Italy), Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Norwegian University of Science and Technology — NTNU (Norway), École Supérieure d’Art et Design Grenoble-Valence (France).

Funding type and administrative classification

Funding type:grant (cascade funding / financial support to third parties) implemented by a project beneficiary (UVEG) using project budget from a Digital Europe co-funded project (AI-SECRETT) to reimburse individuals for participation costs in eligible extracurricular activities. This is an internal cascade funding instrument launched by UVEG and is not an EU-run action; UVEG provides the funds in its own name and responsibility.

Structured extraction of required classification fields

  1. 1Eligible Applicant Types: individuals (natural persons). The call is aimed at students enrolled in or accepted to the AI-SECRETT master. Not open to organisations, companies, research institutes or consortia as applicants for the financial support to third parties.
  2. 2Funding Type: grant (cascade funding/financial support to third parties), reimbursing eligible costs up to a cap; implemented by UVEG.
  3. 3Consortium Requirement: single applicant (individual). The call supports individuals; no consortium is required or allowed for the reimbursement application.
  4. 4Beneficiary Scope (Geographic Eligibility): nationals of EU Member States and nationals of the following non-EU countries eligible under Digital Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine. The call is therefore EU + specified associated non-EU countries.
  5. 5Target Sector: education and training in AI and creative applications; seven vertical industries: Agri-Food, Cultural and Creative Industries, Energy and Environment, Housing, Manufacturing, Mobility and Transport, Non-Touristic Services. Thematic focus: AI for creativity and the Triple Transition (digital, green, social).
  6. 6Mentioned Countries: Spain, Italy, Finland, Norway, France, and the eligible non-EU country list as above.
  7. 7Project Stage: training/education (development/validation of individual skills). The support funds participation in short-term extracurricular training activities associated with an online master programme.
  8. 8Funding Amount: total initial fund €600,000. Maximum per-beneficiary award €5,000. The scheme reimburses up to 50% of eligible costs, and the consortium may increase budget up to twice the initial amount.
  9. 9Application Type: open call with multiple cut-off (rolling cut-off) model: five cut-offs per first edition. Submission electronically via GoodGrants platform only.
  10. 10Nature of Support: monetary reimbursement (money). Beneficiaries receive cash transfers from UVEG after approval of documentation; limited partial pre-financing possible in special cases.
  11. 11Application Stages: three primary stages—admissibility (document completeness), eligibility, and merit scoring leading to award decision and signature of Financial Support Agreement. Additional administrative steps: submission of post-activity documentation and approval for payment.
  12. 12Success Rates: not published. Indicative throughput: with €600,000 initial budget and €5,000 cap, a minimum of 120 beneficiaries could be supported at maximum award; because reimbursement is up to 50% of eligible costs, and the scheme targets at least 240 beneficiaries across two yearly editions, the operational design implies many beneficiaries will receive partial awards. Exact success rate depends on number of applicants and available budget (including potential extra allocations).
  13. 13Co-funding Requirement: partial co-funding implicitly required: the call reimburses up to 50% of eligible costs; beneficiaries must cover remaining eligible costs themselves or via other sources (but cannot receive double funding for the same costs).
  14. 14Templates: mandatory documents and templates are provided through GoodGrants (signed declarations, cost statement and beneficiary report templates). Applicants must provide a CV in Europass format (link to Europass creator is provided) and other documents listed in admissibility conditions. The draft Financial Support Agreement is available from the AI-SECRETT call page and specifies documentation required for payment (signed FSA, evidence of completion, short report, statement of costs, proofs of payment).

Admissibility and templates detail:The GoodGrants platform hosts the application form and required templates, including signed declaration templates (no conflict of interest, no double funding), beneficiary report and cost statement templates and the draft Financial Support Agreement. Applicants should prepare a Europass CV (europass.europa.eu) and a motivation letter explicitly stating employment status and financial need. Proofs of enrolment/acceptance for both the master and the extracurricular activity must be dated on or after 1 October 2026.

Legal and publication disclaimers:The call is implemented and funded by UVEG under the AI-SECRETT project (grant agreement number 101226207) co-funded by the Digital Europe Programme. The publication of the Call on the EU portal is for visibility; UVEG independently drafts, runs and is responsible for the Call. The Financial Support Agreement is governed by Spanish law and the courts of València have exclusive jurisdiction.

How awards are calculated and adjustments:Award equals 50% of eligible documented costs up to awarded amount and up to the €5,000 cap. The Selection Committee may cap individual cost items; awarded amounts are adjusted for purchasing power/place using the Marie Skłodowska-Curie country correction coefficients. Eligible costs must be incurred after application submission. Payment is normally 50% of validated proofs of payment, transferred after approval, or partially in advance under exceptional justified circumstances.

Purpose and supported activities

The purpose of the support is to reduce financial barriers that could prevent AI SECRETT master students from attending high quality extracurricular learning activities connected with the programme. The scheme is intended to support practical and intensive learning, international exposure, networking and development of skills relevant to artificial intelligence, creativity and the sectors addressed by AI SECRETT.

Applicants must select an activity that appears on the official list of eligible activities published by AI SECRETT. The activity must be linked to the AI SECRETT online master programme and must not have been completed by the relevant cut-off date.

The AI SECRETT vertical industries relevant to the merit assessment are agri-food, cultural and creative industries, energy and environment, housing, manufacturing, mobility and transport, and non-touristic services.

The list of eligible activities is available at AI SECRETT extracurricular activities.

Eligible applicants

Applicants must be natural persons rather than companies, universities or other legal entities. They must hold the nationality of an eligible country and must be enrolled in or accepted onto the AI SECRETT master programme.

Eligible nationalities include nationals of all European Union countries and nationals of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine. The call states that this list may change without prior notice.

Applicants must also be enrolled in or accepted onto at least one eligible AI SECRETT extracurricular activity. Both the master programme evidence and the extracurricular activity evidence must be dated no earlier than the opening date of the call and must remain not finalised by the selected cut-off date.

Applicants are not eligible if they are subject to restrictive measures or other disqualifying conditions under applicable EU or national law, receive double funding for the same operation, or have a conflict of interest with the Universidad de Valencia or another AI SECRETT partner.

Submission deadlines

The call uses five separate cut-off dates. Applications submitted by each cut-off date are evaluated together and ranked against the funding available at that stage.

Cut-offDeadline
First cut-off30 November 2026 at 23:59 Brussels time
Second cut-off31 January 2027 at 23:59 Brussels time
Third cut-off31 March 2027 at 23:59 Brussels time
Fourth cut-off31 May 2027 at 23:59 Brussels time
Fifth cut-off31 July 2027 at 23:59 Brussels time

A natural person may submit applications at more than one cut-off date, but may receive financial support under this call only once. An applicant who is unsuccessful or whose application is not admissible may generally seek resubmission at a later cut-off, subject to the activity and documentation still meeting the applicable conditions.

Applications must be submitted before the applicable deadline in Brussels time. Late applications, incomplete applications and applications submitted by email or any method other than the GoodGrants platform will not be accepted for evaluation.

Required application documents

The minimum admissibility package includes the following documents:

  • Signed application form completed through the GoodGrants platform
  • Curriculum vitae in Europass format
  • Motivation letter explicitly stating employment status and financial need
  • Evidence supporting a disadvantaged background or priority category, where applicable
  • Signed declarations covering matters such as conflict of interest and absence of double funding
  • Proof of enrolment or acceptance in the AI SECRETT master programme
  • Proof of enrolment or acceptance in at least one AI SECRETT extracurricular activity
  • Indicative cost breakdown covering travel, accommodation, registration or participation fees and other costs

All documentation must be provided in English. Unofficial translations are permitted for documents originally issued in another language, but the applicant bears the risk of errors, omissions or misinterpretation arising from the translation.

The proof of enrolment or acceptance for both the master programme and the extracurricular activity must satisfy the call date requirements. Applicants should ensure that the documents clearly identify the applicant, the programme or activity, the relevant dates and the status of enrolment or acceptance.

Application and evaluation process

Applications are submitted exclusively through the GoodGrants application platform. The evaluation is carried out by a special committee established by the Universidad de Valencia.

The evaluation has three stages:admissibility, eligibility and merit assessment. Admissibility and eligibility are checked first. Only applications that pass these checks are scored on merit.

Admissibility requires a complete electronic application received by the relevant cut-off date through GoodGrants, together with all required attachments. Applications that are incomplete or submitted through another channel are discarded and may be proposed for resubmission at a subsequent cut-off date.

Eligible applications are ranked by their total score within the funding available. The final award decision is endorsed by the Universidad de Valencia. Applicants are to receive a written justification of the decision and information about applicable appeal arrangements.

Merit criteria

Applications are assessed against four criteria with a combined maximum score of 100 points. The call states that no minimum thresholds or additional weighting apply.

CriterionAssessment focusMaximum score
Excellence and relevanceAcademic or professional background and fit with AI SECRETT vertical industries30
Motivation and expected impactLearning objectives, expected career impact and clarity of the proposed plan25
Financial needEconomic circumstances and justification for the requested support25
European added valueCross-border dimension and contribution to diversity20
TotalMaximum available score100

In the event of equal scores, priority is applied in the following order:applicants enrolled in more than one extracurricular activity; applicants from countries that are not full members of the AI SECRETT consortium; applicants from regions with average income below 75% of the EU average; and female applicants where merit is equivalent.

Funding amount and reimbursement rules

The maximum financial support is €5,000 per beneficiary. The support is a reimbursement rather than an unrestricted lump sum. The final amount is based on eligible expenditure that is actually incurred, justified and documented, subject to the maximum amount, the 50% reimbursement limit, any country adjustment and any cost caps imposed by the selection committee.

The scheme reimburses up to 50% of total eligible costs. Consequently, an applicant normally needs at least €10,000 of eligible costs to reach the nominal €5,000 ceiling, and a lower eligible cost base will produce a lower maximum reimbursement. The €5,000 ceiling is not an automatic award amount.

Eligible cost categories are:

  • Travel costs that are actual and justified
  • Accommodation costs that are actual and justified
  • Registration or participation fees that are actual and documented
  • Other costs that are actual, justified and documented and directly connected with participation in the supported activity

The Selection Committee may cap individual cost categories where the proposed amount is excessive or inconsistent with normal market prices for the relevant location and period. Applicants should therefore use realistic prices and retain invoices, receipts, booking evidence, tickets, proof of payment and any other documents required by the Financial Support Agreement.

Eligible expenses are those incurred after the date on which the relevant application is submitted. Costs incurred before submission are not eligible under the stated rules, even if they relate to the selected activity.

The awarded amount is adjusted according to the recipient’s country of origin using the latest Marie Skłodowska Curie actions adjustment coefficients referenced by the call. Applicants should verify the coefficient applicable to their country and confirm how it affects the final ceiling before committing to expenditure.

The call states that the funding is distributed across two yearly editions and aims to support at least 240 beneficiaries using the available resources. The consortium may supplement the initial €600,000 allocation by up to twice the initially allocated amount, but this is a discretionary possibility rather than a guaranteed budget increase.

Agreement, payment and reporting

Successful applicants must sign an individual Financial Support Agreement with the Universidad de Valencia. The agreement identifies the supported activity, eligible costs, maximum amount, payment schedule and reporting requirements.

The draft agreement should be reviewed before applying at AI SECRETT Financial Support Agreement. Failure to sign within the deadline specified by the Universidad de Valencia may result in the grant being withdrawn by unilateral decision of the funding body.

Payment is normally made after the applicant has participated in the activity and the Universidad de Valencia has approved the beneficiary report and cost statement. The individual agreement may allow limited prefinancing in justified circumstances, but applicants should not assume that advance funding will be available.

Applicants should plan to finance the participation costs in advance unless the signed agreement expressly provides otherwise. They should also confirm the required reporting format, supporting evidence, deadlines, bank details and any tax or local law implications in the individual agreement.

Applicant compliance checklist

  1. 1Confirm nationality eligibility before preparing the application
  2. 2Confirm that the selected extracurricular activity appears on the official AI SECRETT eligible activities list
  3. 3Obtain current proof of acceptance or enrolment in the AI SECRETT master programme
  4. 4Obtain current proof of acceptance or enrolment in the selected extracurricular activity
  5. 5Prepare a Europass CV in English
  6. 6Explain employment status, financial need, learning objectives and expected career impact in the motivation letter
  7. 7Document any disadvantaged background or priority category relied upon
  8. 8Prepare a realistic itemised cost estimate and identify the requested support amount
  9. 9Ensure every planned cost will be incurred after application submission
  10. 10Avoid committing to costs that may be considered excessive or outside the activity
  11. 11Submit the complete application only through GoodGrants before the selected cut-off
  12. 12Retain evidence of payment and participation for post-activity reporting
  13. 13Review and sign the Financial Support Agreement within the required timeframe if selected
  14. 14Do not claim another grant or financial contribution for the same costs

Overall assessment

This opportunity is most suitable for individual AI SECRETT master students who have a clear connection between the selected extracurricular activity and their academic or professional development, can demonstrate genuine financial need and can provide reliable evidence for all claimed expenditure.

The strongest applications are likely to combine a relevant academic or professional profile with a precise learning plan, a credible explanation of career impact, a well-supported financial need case and clear European or cross-border value. The financial support should be treated as partial reimbursement, not full cost coverage or an advance grant.

The principal risks for applicants are incomplete documentation, failure to use the GoodGrants platform, unsupported financial need, costs incurred before submission, costs exceeding market norms, failure to provide English documentation, double funding and failure to execute the Financial Support Agreement on time.

The call should be distinguished from a conventional EU grant call. The European Commission portal provides visibility, but the Universidad de Valencia is responsible for the call, selection, agreements, payments and administration of the financial support.
